Join Adam Buxton and his live band featuring members of Metronomy for a lorra lorra fun! Buxton, our most beloved podcaster, jingle auteur and GarageBand veteran, may never be a rockstar, but that didn’t stop him fantasising about making ‘a valuable contribution to pop music’. When Decca Records approached Buxton about making a debut album (five years ago!) the label didn’t realise they were dealing with a “master of self-deluded overcomplication”. He told them he wanted “Berlin-period Bowie and Eno going for lunch with Radiohead and Nina Simone at Brian Wilson’s beach brasserie.” Then he enlisted Metronomy’s Joe Mount as producer: “I hoped it would be a Metronomy record with my voice!”... none of these plans materialised. Instead, Buxton has created an album and a live show (featuring members of Metronomy) that inhabits his natural domain: somewhere between heartfelt and silly 19:00 – Doors 20:00 – Anna B Savage 21:00 – Adam Buxton Band 22:00 – Show finish

Chump's x Margate Film Festival: Oxide Ghosts - The Brass Eye Tapes: Screening and Q&A with Michael Cumming and Stewart Lee Michael Cumming’s acclaimed Brass Eye documentary ‘Oxide Ghosts’ celebrates the legendary comedy series. Following two sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs and a twice extended UK and Ireland tour, multi-award-winning and trail-blazing comedian, Paul Foot, brings his critically acclaimed Dissolve – his most personal, surprising and ground-breaking show ever - to Chump's! “Funnier and more daring than I’ve ever seen him… [has] the audience laughing so hard they’re about to leave their bodies.” ★★★★★ Chortle Life is a stress: full of rushed breakfasts, angry people, internal conflict, and Jacob Rees-Mogg. In the year 2022 AD something momentous changed for Paul, and in this show he will reveal how he discovered the secret of life on the outskirts of Lancaster.* Inevitably he does get distracted by King Tutankhamun, the House of Lords, Sir Cliff Richard, officious lollipop ladies and what Jesus might have achieved if he’d been a plumber. Chump's x Margate Film Festival: King Rocker - Screening and Q&A with Michael Cumming and Stewart Lee Comedian Stewart Lee and director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast of London), investigate a missing piece of punk history: Robert Lloyd, best known for fronting cult Birmingham bands The Prefects and The Nightingales, has survived under the radar for over four decades. The anti-rockumentary King Rocker weaves the story of Birmingham’s undervalued underdog autodidact into that of the city’s forgotten public sculpture of King Kong, eschewing the celebrity interview and archive-raid approach for a free-associating bricolage of Indian food, bewildered chefs, vegetable gardening, prescription medicines, pop stardom and pop art. Truly one of the most decorated and critically acclaimed comedians of our time! Kiran Saggu Kiran is an American/British comedian who co-founded the coolest night in London Slay24. She identifies as a savage in the Megan Thee Stallion way and not the Winston Churchill way. Her standup is observational, surreal, occasionally dark, but usually funny. Her mix of outlandish anecdotes and off-beat observations have gained traction both online and on stage. The Independent say she's “Outstanding”, Katherine Ryan called her "Hot", but why can’t she be both?

A new show about extinct gigantic, charismatic, megafauna from 3-time Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominated comedian Josie Long. "In these troubled times, in this wicked world, it can feel like apocalypse is everywhere but did you know 11,000 years ago there were some really big armadillos? I’m talking about as big as a car. Really big. And they were vegetarian so don’t even worry about them. Also my daughter has a hamster and I’m not saying distract yourself from everything, but I’m saying he’s also part of everything." Josie is back with a new show about discovery, wonder, extinction and how to walk through a landscape of monstrous disaster. There is also a good tip about silt, guaranteed. "If stand-up shows can be known to punch down, then [Josie] buoys us all up."★★★★★ The Skinny "wild-firing imagination”★★★★ Guardian

What are men for? Most heavy things can be lifted by machines and most problems can be solved by computers and most puddles can be crossed without us gallantly draping our capes over them - so are we fellas of any use at all? Award winning MAN Marcus Brigstocke thinks we might still serve some useful function. But what is it? This new tour show will resolve the entire issue once and for all (in a non-patriarchal, open minded, progressive sort of way). DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man is the image of the ideal male form. Marcus’ Vitruvian Mango is the same, but sweeter, softer, seasonally available and, when ripe, delicately perfumed. ‘... charming, hilarious and utterly refreshing…’ The Sunday Mirror ‘Sharpest one-liner merchant’ The Sunday Times ‘If you haven’t seen him live, then you haven’t seen him at his very best’ The Mirror Doors 7pm Show Starts 7.30pm
Rob Auton: ‘The Eyes Open and Shut Show’ Dear potential gig goer, Firstly I’d like to say I love doing shows in Margate and am looking forward to getting in the mix for this one. This is a comedy/theatre/spoken word show about eyes when they are open and eyes when they are shut. With this show I wanted to explore what I could do to myself and others with language when eyes are open and when they are shut. After writing ten shows on specific themes including the colour yellow in ‘The Yellow Show’, the sky in ‘The Sky Show’ and myself in ‘The Rob Auton Show’ I wanted to think about what makes me open my eyes and what makes me shut my eyes. I did about 40 work in progresses of it and then did it at the Edinburgh Festival for the month. It would be great to see you if you’re about? All the best, Rob "A genuine original" Guardian "The Mother Freaking Greatest" James Acaster "Very hilarious" David Shrigley "A genius" Bridget Christie Makes laughter out of wonder. We need him.
